A Global Passage to
the Heart of Chicago
Elevating Every Journey:
A New Vision for O'Hare

ORDNext is the bold next phase of O'Hare 21, the largest terminal expansion in O'Hare history. With construction now underway, it marks a complete reimagining of the airport's core, designed to elevate every journey and strengthen Chicago's role as a global leader in travel, trade, and economic growth for generations to come.

Chicago's creative minds and master trades are remaking the travel experience from the inside out. Two airy new concourses at the airfield's center and a soaring O'Hare Global Terminal are purpose-built to ease stress and welcome travelers home.

Conceived as Chicago Orchard Airport with the code ORD, O'Hare's first post-World War II airfield brought auto and commuter-rail visitors directly to terminals at its core. Now, as it embarks on the next 70 years, O'Hare's new facilities will reflect the vibrancy of Chicago's neighborhoods—inviting exploration and fueling commerce and careers across the city. By design, O'Hare remains integral to Chicago's communities, delivering on its promise as both an economic engine and a global gateway.

Satellite Concourse 1

Construction is underway on the first major new concourse at O'Hare in more than 30 years. Concourse D is built to flexibly accommodate narrow and wide-body aircraft, increasing carriers' operational efficiency, speeding passenger connections, and reducing layovers at a bustling travel hub.

ElevateT3

Concourse E's gates for regional, narrow-body aircraft, will enhance connectivity for domestic and select international flights. Designed by SOM, the light-filled space brings Chicago's world-class architecture to life with modern amenities, natural materials, and thoughtful spaces for rest and recharge.

Terminal 5

A new international terminal that will nearly double the size of the current Terminal 2. The flexible facility, designed by Studio ORD, will welcome both domestic and international travelers and allow for seamless connections.
